Why is it needed?
Our society has tended to avoid talking about faith, leading to lesser understanding of faiths at a time when it plays a greater role in the lives of many within society. By contrast, this training builds confidence and skills to have civil conversations of mutual benefit with peoples of faith, whether or not participants are of faith themselves.
Why should our faith group / business do it?The strength of the training is in its customisation for specific needs, such as for business relations or for those living alongside faith communities locally or preparing to live among them abroad.
Customisation examples include learning about perspectives of different faiths in areas such as
What will it achieve?Participants will become more appreciative of the positive (and often unheard) role of faith communities within wider society and to develop skills to interact well with them, with opportunities to apply learning on the day through engagement with faith practitioners.
Where is it held?Training normally occurs in Southall due to proximity of faith centres and excellent relationships with local leaders, enabling short tours to Christian, Hindu, Muslim and Sikh places of worship. The Kings Centre is 5-mins walk from Southall Train Station (on both London Underground and National Rail), with plenteous free parking also available at the Centre.
Training can also be at a venue of participant choice if relations already exist with a faith centre nearby. This can then be combined with Cultural Awareness Training to create a full day course. How long does it last?Training lasts for one day, with 30 – 60 mins of digital training to enable preparation before coming. Options also exist to extend this if further training is needed, with some groups coming for over a week.
If only one faith is in focus, training can also be combined with Cultural Awareness Training all within one day. How much does it cost?Pricing varies due to differing expenses and options selected. Please therefore contact us to discuss your training needs in detail.
If pricing is a problem, other alternatives can also be considered. We passionately believe in the importance of what is learnt and we want as many people as possible to benefit. Pricing therefore is set to make future training sustainable, considering wider costs such as content development, CPD and publicity. |
What happens in the training?Digital training beforehand lets participants understand underlying cultural themes as to why people do what they do within their faiths. Upon arrival, they then receive additional training to further culturally prepare them to visit nearby faith centres to meet practitioners, observe and hear of their customs and to ask questions to understand associated underlying values and beliefs. Debriefing on implications for future working practice then occurs back at the Kings Centre, prior to departure from Southall.
What if our faith group interest is not Christian / Hindu / Muslim / Sikh?If your interest is in a faith not among those that can be visited in Southall, then please ask us about including it, since we also have connections with Jewish and Buddhist faith communities nearby.
What if we are interested in just one faith group?Training can be tailored to focus on just one faith within a half-day, or alternatively, to add one-day of Cultural Awareness Training to highlight cultural aspects associated with that faith group. Our team has extensive experience of faiths relations so also enabling content on specific topics to be delivered as required.
